Focusing on one of the most revolutionary and influential relationships in jazz, Sabin and Buium will share music, research, background, interviews, and never before heard recordings featuring the iconic Peacock/Bley collaborations.

Robert Sabin is a bassist, educator, and author in New York City.  His 2015 Ph.D. dissertation Gary Peacock: Analysis of Progressive Double Bass Improvisation 1963-1965 features interviews with the bassist, transcriptions, and analysis of his 1960s New York period.

Greg Buium is working on a biography of Paul Bley. A noted music critic, he has con­tributed to Down Beat, the Wire, and Coda, among many oth­ers. His writ­ing on jazz and impro­vised music has been trans­lated into Span­ish and Ger­man and was included in the McSweeney’s anthol­ogy Con­fi­dence, or the Appear­ance of Con­fi­dence: The Best of the Believer Music Inter­views (2014). He has writ­ten liner notes to numer­ous record­ings for inde­pen­dent labels in Canada, Switzer­land, and the U.K.  His col­umn, Jumpin’ In, appears quar­terly in Point of Depar­ture.
